During a recent trip to Athens to attend a UGA football game, I ran into a pilot friend of mine whom I had not seen for some time.  I was amazed at the amount of weight he had lost since our last meeting.  I commended Mike on his weight loss and questioned his method, as this was something I had unsuccesfully struggled with over the years.  He told me about the Howard Diet plan.  I made an appointment the next week.  I have been on the diet for a short time and have already managed to lose 15 pounds on the way to my weight loss goal.

The Howard Diet staff is courteous, knowledgeable and helpful.  I am pleased with the program and the results.  The medication has helped to curb my appetite and the B12 injections, along with the daily vitamin and mineral supplements, have allowed me to maintain my energy level during the weight loss process.  The Howard Diet meal replacement bars and snacks are tasty and satisfying, which help me to stick with the plan.

My interest in weight loss peaked, like most of us, at the first of the year as a New Year’s resolution. Having recently celebrated my 50th birthday, I was not happy to find I weighed the most of my lifetime. I am aware of the obesity problem we face as Americans, and in combination with some personal health issues like high blood pressure, high cholesterol and high triglycerides, I knew I was not where I wanted to be health-wise for the next 50 years. Those things had to change if I expected to have a long life.

We had recently added a new advertiser to our list of clients and I became interested in their literature and weight loss philosophy. To me, most diets I read are too complicated or difficult to fit into my daily schedule. This one, The Howard Diet, seemed very simple and easy to follow. That got my attention! Dr. Drew Howard, a physician from Tifton, had formulated the diet for himself because he too found most of the other diets too complicated to follow, so he developed one which is not only easy to follow, it is also effective. In his original diet, he needed to lose about the same amount of weight I wanted to target for myself, and he then managed to make lifestyle changes to keep it off. The diet was so effective he started sharing it with his patients.

After reading through the diet, which uses many soy-based products for protein, I was confident that it would help me in other areas like cholesterol and triglycerides--another plus. Today the simple soybean comes in the form of some delicious food and is a food staple used by other cultures that are healthier than we Americans. The other major component is yogurt, which I enjoy.

I was convinced that a physician supervised weight loss program which constantly monitors your progress and your health, combined with easy access to important information concerning the diet which I could read about online at www.howarddiet.com, would make this diet one which I could follow.

I made my initial appointment for my assessment of my current condition and health history for a Thursday. The staff was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. I completed the Body Mass Index to determine my makeup of muscle, bone, water and fat and we set the goal for my weight loss program. We went over the food supplements available, I received my vitamins and B12 injection and they phoned in my prescription for the appetite suppressant.

The staff at Howard Diet suggested that I wait until Monday to start the diet, but I had become so interested in reading about the diet, and was so hopeful for an improvement in my overall health and successful weight loss, I decided to start on Friday, just to see if one day on the diet was going to be difficult. By starting on Friday night, I could go back to my regular meals on Saturday, but I would have an idea of what was to be in store for me.

That weekend I ate in restaurants three times, while trying to eat reasonably and be healthy when ordering. On Monday I officially began the Howard Diet. I followed the diet religiously the first week, and stopped by the Howard Diet Center for a weigh-in Friday morning. I had gone by the center to weigh because according to my scales at home, I had lost about ten pounds. I thought I was being too optimistic hoping the ten pound loss was accurate. However, after weighing on the Tanita System at the center, my official weight showed a 10.5 lb. loss and a 3.5% loss of fat!

I don’t know about everyone else, but I was happy with a 10.5-pound loss the first week, especially on a diet that is so easy to follow, and I did not have that gnawing hungry feeling, nor had I experienced a loss of energy. I have definitely found a program that works for me and will allow me reach my weight goal and improve my health.

I have tried every diet there is, only to be discouraged after a few months. I could never stay on a diet long enough to make a difference. I hate both dieting and exercising. I heard about The Howard Diet and decided to give it a try.

I have been on the Howard Diet for 5 months. Since I started, I have lost 24 pounds and 2 pant sizes. I go to the Howard Diet Center once a month to check my progress.
